The External Expert Commission of the Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Health Care (ECAQA), chaired by Sholpan Sadykova, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, graduate of the international Bolashak programme, Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan, and with the active participation of Professor Marie Novakova, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic), Member of the International Board of the Committee on Experimental Cardiology and the Board of the Czech Physiological Society, conducted an external evaluation of the Bachelor’s degree programmes in General Medicine and Pediatrics.
The Commission also included academic experts from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as student and employer experts.
Upon a positive accreditation decision, the educational programmes will meet the requirements of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), thereby granting graduates of the Karakalpakstan Medical Institute eligibility to take the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 examinations in the United States for admission to postgraduate clinical residency programmes.
Information about the accredited medical education programmes will be published on the WFME Portal of Accredited Educational Programmes in Basic Medical Education and in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDoMS), maintained by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER, USA).
Such recognition is ensured only for educational programmes accredited by the Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Health Care (ECAQA) in the Republics of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
