Eurasian Center for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Education and Healthcare (ECAQA) within the framework of cooperation conducted international workshop on "Quality assurance of medical education: international experience, principles, mechanisms, tools" Almaty, 21-25.12.2021.

The workshop was attended by representatives from 11 medical universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Grounds: Letter of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The workshop programme includes the following topics: Accreditation process. External QA mechanisms. International initiatives of WFME and WHO. WFME standards. Specification of WFME, ESG and ECAQA Accreditation Standards. Mission and values of educational organization. Competency-based medical education. Integrated Learning. Student-centered learning. Assessment methods. Clinical competency assessment methods. Engaging students in quality assurance. Simulation learning. External evaluation of HEI. Post-accreditation monitoring.

Workshop Speakers: Banu Narbekova, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan/ She highlighted the role of the Bologna Process in the integration of Kazakhstan HEIs into the European Higher Education and Research Area; Vitaly Koikov, Deputy Director of the Salidat Kairbekova Center for Health Development. He discussed by the processes of modernization of medical and nursing education; Zaure Baygojina, Head of Education and Science Development Department of the Salidat Kairbekova Center for Health Development, Deputy Chair of the National Commission for Development of Nursing Education System; "Role of strategic international partnership in postgraduate medical education" was presented by Alma Syzdykova, Mcs, MBA, Director of Education and Science Department of Corporate Foundation "UMC" Nazarbayev University.

A visit to the simulation center of Asfendiyarov KazNMU was organized for the workshop participants.
